Who are we?

The EMA Foundation is a foundation that functions within the jurisdiction of Swiss law and was created in 1998 and placed under the supervision of the Service de surveillance des fondations du Canton de Genève (The Department for the Supervision of Foundations within the Canton of Geneva).

Objective

The foundation aims to offer emerging countries better access to capital, technologies, markets, and to international media.

Activities

The EMA Foundation produces the EMA Invest forum in Geneva. The event enables economic actors from industrialised and emerging nations to meet. Companies and institutions from some 67 different countries have already attended an EMA Invest forum. The Foundation also undertakes the communication, networking and pro-economic activities on the behalf of African governments and institutions.

Management

Guy Mettan, Preésident

A representative on the Geneva High Council, Guy Mettan is also president of the Suisse romande division (for the French-speaking region of Switzerland) and vice-president of CCI Suisse West-Africa. A journalist by profession, he directs the Geneva Press Club, of which he is a founding member. His columns are published in several Swiss newspapers. In addition to these many achievements and contributions, he created the Festival francophone de philosophie (the French-Speaking Philosophy Festival)

Dominique Flaux, General Secretary

Publisher for the Les Afriques newspaper, Dominique Flaux specialises in media conceptualisation and management. He has created and directed several publications and events both within and beyond Switzerland’s borders in sectors ranging from finance, public management and luxury products and services and to real estate.

Advisory Board

Philippe Séchaud, President.

Philippe Séchaud is Director of several banks in Africa (BICIA-B, BICICI, BICIS, BNP Paribas Mauritania) as well as for PROPARCO and Gras-Savoye in Switzerland. He started his career as a technical advisor to the director of PNUD in New York. He then joined SIFIDA, an investment company for Africa founded in 1970 by 120 top industrial and financial groups including BAD and SFI. He held that position for over 30 years. Actively involved in project financing and trading in Africa, SIFIDA is now a part of the BNP Paribas group. Mr. Séchaud is a graduate of the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique de Paris where he studied Civil Engineering.
